The Paddle Journey So Far

When we first launched the Paddle SDK for Mac, our mission was simple: we wanted to simplify the process of selling apps outside of the Mac App Store.

We were adamant about removing the burdens of setting up trials, licensing and payments, and incorporate all of it into one easy to integrate solution, leaving developers to focus on what matters - their apps.

With that in mind, we decided earlier this year that we wanted to commit our energy & resources towards growing & improving our product. And thanks to the hard work from our developers and support from you, our awesome customers, we’ve been able to do just that.

Where We’re At Right Now

We’ve made a tonne of exciting developments over the last few months with the introduction of new features and overall improvements, but to mention just a few milestones:

  • We gave the Paddle Dashboard a fresh lick of paint and included more data, giving sellers a better idea of where sales are coming from.
  • Following on from the success of our two-click checkout process, we launched our beautiful new Overlay Checkout, allowing customers to complete their online purchases on the same webpage.
  • The introduction of the Paddle Store Kit for Mac makes it easier than ever to sell in-app purchases outside of the Mac App Store. Great whether you have a freemium app or you just want to sell additional functionality in-app.
  • We dropped our pricing to 5% + $0.50 per sale, allowing our sellers to make a larger profit per sale.

It has been such a pleasure to see how developers use Paddle's tools to sell their apps and grow their business, but now, we want to do more to help.

How Else Can We Help You?

We’ve set up the Paddle blog with the intention of creating a hub of information and resources, including: marketing advice, customer stories, industry insights, tutorials and more.

Things are already under way, with articles like 3 Ways To Promote Your Mac App On A Budget and How Keyboard Maestro Creates An Awesome Customer Experience, but we want to know what you would like to read about.

What information or insights are going to help you to overcome the challenges you face as a developer?

Let us know in the comments section below, or feel free to send us an email instead.

Lastly, we want to thank all of our customers for choosing to sell their products with Paddle. We've made a lot of progress this year and there are still plenty of exciting developments still to come. Watch this space!
